Registration is now open for our Summer 2022  DE Online Teaching and Learning course. Seating is limited. If you would like to work on earning your certification to meet Administrative Policy 4105 requirements this spring, please register through the Vision Resource Center link on the bottom left of our Faculty and Staff page. After logging in, go to the Events Calendar to register for the course starting June 13th. The deadline to register is Thursday, June 9th.

Course Description

The course content is scaffolded to first introduce you to Canvas and Accessibility with the guidance of section D of the Online Education Initiative (OEI) Rubric. You will then build and design four online modules in Canvas with sections A-C of the OEI Rubric guidance. Once you complete the coursework, you will be enrolled in our self-paced DE at COD (our certification capstone). In DE at COD, you will apply their understanding of course design and the Online Education Initiative Rubric by self-reviewing your work to be submitted to the Distance Education Subcommittee for evaluation.

Training Schedule

8 Weeks

The course is asynchronous, with weekly assignments to provide you with the online student learning experience. Optional Zoom sessions will provide guidance and support to complete weekly assignments. Participants should expect an average of 3-6 hours of work per week.

  • 22SP-Distance Education Certification-8 Week-A: June 13th to August 12th.

Capstone

After successfully completing the 8-Week Online Teaching and Learning course, you will be enrolled in a self-paced Capstone course to finalize aligning the work you complete in our 8-week course with the Online Education Initiative Rubric. Members of our Distance Education Subcommittee will review capstone work.
