College of the Desert, May 2024 – The College of the Desert Adjunct Association (CODAA) is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 David N. Bashore and Judith Mandell Awards, which recognize exceptional contributions to supporting adjunct faculty and the wider college community.
The Judith Mandell Award, named after the first and founding President of CODAA, was awarded to Mark Rizzo and Tina Gonzalez. Mark Rizzo, the Business Department Computer Technician, was recognized for his outstanding commitment to assisting faculty and students in the Business Department. Tina Gonzalez, also honored with this prestigious award, demonstrated exceptional dedication and support to faculty and students alike, embodying the spirit of collaboration that Mandell cherished.
The David N. Bashore Award, named after the immediate past President of CODAA, was awarded to Cheryl Etter and Jeff Larson. This award is presented to individuals who, throughout their careers, have contributed significantly to fostering an inclusive environment for adjunct faculty. Cheryl Etter was recognized for her role as an advocate and supporter of adjunct faculty, while Jeff Larson was celebrated for his contributions to ensuring adjunct faculty members feel valued and integrated into the college community.
