As the Spring semester comes to an end, CODAA has some important news to share with you. The Desert Community College District (COD) has recently approved a fantastic initiative—a $40 per month Health Insurance reimbursement—for many of our members. We’re thrilled to announce this development and provide you with all the necessary details.

To begin with, we understand that the initial amount of the Health Insurance benefit may seem small. However, the significance lies in this additional benefit being included in the Adjunct Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). This paves the way for future negotiations aimed at increasing these reimbursements further.

If you are eligible for the reimbursement, it’s crucial to note that documentation is required when submitting your claim. To find all the necessary information, refer to Section 2, paragraph E of the attached Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) document. It outlines the specific requirements and guidelines you must follow to ensure a smooth reimbursement process.

It’s important to note that these reimbursements are retroactive to January 1, 2023. Therefore, it’s essential to include proof of payment for each month of the reimbursement period. To ensure your claim is processed correctly, submit all the required documentation to the Accounts Payable Department no later than July 15, 2023.

Lastly, we want to inform you that Adjuncts eligible for Medicare will not be able to participate in this program. However, we are committed to exploring additional benefits and opportunities for all our members, including Medicare-eligible members.
